About

Some know me as “Six One Sis.”

I’m six-foot-one, and I’ve been a “big sis” to many.

For over thirty years I’ve been mentoring younger women. I’m in my fifties now, and I’ve learned a lot of life’s lessons. The Bible tells older women to teach younger women, so that’s what I do. I even wrote a book, Loving Your Husband Before You Even Have One, to pass along some insights to help navigate the crazy world of singlenesss and dating so girls can hope for a better marriage someday. With a little assistance from some of my friends, I’ll continue sharing helpful stuff on this website.

I’ve been married to Sean for twenty years, we are raising three pretty awesome sons, and we still really, really like each other. I’m a wife and mom now, but I know what it’s like to be single. I was a well-seasoned bridesmaid (thirteen times!) before I became a bride.

Every girl needs a big sis. May I be one to you?

Kim Vollendorf once thought Jesus was boring and irrelevant, but she changed her mind about Him in college. As a result, she has spent the past three decades working with the campus ministry Student Mobilization, discipling college women and mentoring StuMo staff.

She made it through thirteen weddings as a single bridesmaid before she met and married her dreamy husband Sean. They have been married for over twenty years, and they are in the process of launching out three young men.

As Kim has experienced the ups and downs of being both single and married, she found herself saying over and over again, “Young women need to know this.” One day she scribbled down on an index card the key lessons she learned as a single woman that really paid off in her marriage. The notes on that card became a series of talks which drew in thousands of young women, and those talks eventually became the book Loving Your Husband Before You Even Have One.

Motivated by the Bible verse in Titus 2 where older women are instructed to teach the younger women, Kim continues to venture out of her introverted shell to help younger women discover the joy of a relationship with Jesus and how He makes a difference in all seasons of life—whether single or married.

Life, work, and family keep her pretty busy, but as often as she can, she’ll crawl right back into her introverted shell to get lost in a book with a steaming cup of Earl Gray tea.
